Close to the heart of lively and bustling Groningen, with all its cosy pubs, restaurants and shops, this hotel offers 4-star comfort in an ideal city location.

The hotel is situated opposite the UMCG University in the spirited city centre. All city centre amenities are within reach, including museums, markets and attractions. Groningen is the capital city of the province with the same name, so there is no shortage of bars and restaurants where you can sit and simply watch Dutch life go buy. Soak in the city’s history on a bicycle trip; by far the best way to get around, before returning to your well appointed and comfortable hotel and its panoramic views.

Hotel information

Order one of the hotel’s packed lunches before you set off to see the sights. Groningen has the fourth largest church tower in the Netherlands, at the Martini Tower. Here you will encounter panoramic views of Grote Markt, a pedestrian square which hosts a market several times a week.

Ensure you make use of the hotel’s facilities, including wireless internet, 2 function rooms holding up to 130 people, dry cleaning and laundry. The bar and restaurant are on hand to wine and dine you in the evenings, before you return to your welcoming bedrooms. For those arriving by car, the hotel offers free parking during the night and at the weekend.

Food & beverage

In the modern and informal restaurant/brasserie 'De Hanzebeker', guests can enjoy a large breakfast buffet every morning from 07:00 to 10:30 during weekdays and from 08:00 to 11:00 during the weekend.
Dinner is served from 17:30 to 22:00.

In the morning, you can enjoy your coffee or tea whilst reading your newspaper, either in the lounge or at the reading table. In the evenings, you can have your drinks in the cosy bar adjoining our lounge and brasserie.

Groningen, now almost 1000 years old, is a vibrant city with rich cultural life. The new NH Groningen Hotel is in the city centre which offers the famous Groninger Museum, the Stadsschouwburg Theatre, as well as many charming streets.

Friendly staff, interesting idea to offer various types of pillows.....

It is in Groningen ;-( [the hotel cannot help that]. Apart from that the hotel has very little that makes it special in any way, it is rather standard.

There was no coffee avaiable during breakfast-time, however the price for the whole breakfast has been cancelled.

Nice little presents for our kids -- made us feel welcome. Comfortable beds. Breakfast was great, lots of choice, very fresh. Friendly, helpful personnel.

A very relaxing stay at this hotel, staff were excellent and very helpful in every way. When we come back to Holland it will be a pleasure to stay at this hotel again.

Clean room, great breakfast, convenient location to medical center.

I had originally made a reservation for 2 nights. Later, I called and added a third night to the reservation and received a confirmation number. However, when I arrived at the hotel, the reservation was only for two nights, leaving me scrambling to find a place to stay for the third night.

perfect place to stay when visiting the Academic Hospital and on walking distance of the centre of town. Staff was very friendly and helpful

Good nice and clean place just on the edge of the city center

To avoid the 15 Euro daily parking fee we parked at P+R parking and took the City Bus (for 2 Euro) which stops just in front of the hotel. This works great but when we arrived at the hotel it turned out that in the weekend parking is for free (just beside the hotel).
