Hotel De Nieuwe Doelen is situated within walking distance of the historic city centre of Middelburg, where you find a wide choice of restaurants, cafes, shops and attractions.

Whether you plan to stay in our hotel for business purposes or for a family vacation, we will make sure that your stay is relaxed and that you’ll feel completely at home. We lead our hotel in a personal and friendly manner. We offer you a pleasant ambiance in a beautiful building. Our hotel has 26 modern rooms, fitted with bathrooms with bath or shower, television (free film channel) hairdryer and alarm clock radio.

In the morning you can enjoy a varied breakfast buffet, which in summer is served in our lovely and quiet garden. At night you can choose a drink at our popular bar or quiet relaxation in our very comfortable hotel lounge.

All older children or adults are charged EUR 25.00 per night and person for extra beds.

Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.

Extra beds and baby cots are upon request and need to be confirmed by the hotel.

Supplements will not be calculated automatically in the total costs and have to be paid separately in the hotel.

Hotel information

Hotel 'De Nieuwe Doelen' is on the edge of the town centre and just a stones throw from the station. It has modern, comfortable rooms and an ambience in which you will feel completely at home. It boasts an attractive restaurant and a cosy bar, and the large, enclosed garden behind the hotel offers comfortable seating.

Area information

Middelburg is more than a thousand years old, and was for centuries one of the most important trading centres in Europe. Despite wars and catastrophes, it has retained its historical ambience. Hundreds of monuments on imposing streets and untroubled squares bear witness to times gone by, as do the medieval abbey complex with its 'Lange Jan' tower, the majestic, late-gothic town hall and the many simple workshops in the 'Kuiperspoort'.

Of course, none of this means that Middelburg still lives in the past. It has many busy shopping streets, cosy pubs and dozens of street cafes all within walking distance from your hotel.

Middelburg is the natural centre of the island of Walcheren, which, with its picturesque villages and its varied landscape of forests and fields, wide beaches and high dunes, has enchanted visitors since the beginning of this century. Zeeland is an eldorado for water sports enthusiasts. A visit to the 'Delta Expo', an exhibition on one of the world's largest marine engineering projects, provides information on the way in which this unique part of the Netherlands was created. Discover Rotterdam, Amsterdam or the closer Belgian cities of Antwerp, Bruges and Gent.

The rooms were very shabby, small and uninviting. The entrance, lift, and corridors were also dark and shabby. Not a good hotel at all and very over priced.

The hotel is close to the centre of the town and quiet. The reception staff was very friendly and trying to accomodate and help us.

We requiered a non-smoking room, and clearly, someone had smoked in it but there was not another room to move to apart from a suite (empty). The owner didn't want us to use that room unless we had to pay a much higher price. For the price we paid, we would expect a "smarter" room. I didn't feel that I wanted to linger in it.

Very close to station, very friendly and efficient staff, good room, free wireless internet, quiet considering the very central location, very good breakfast, spacy breakfast room

Only very minor points, just for consideration by the hotel management: bed had a pit in the middle (but yet I slept very well !), TV is difficult to get started, windows were quite small and high.

Bereidwillig personeel.

Sanitair van de kamer matig. Er werd gerenoveerd en dat was op alle gangen goed te zien. Veel rotzooi. Slechte klimaatsbeheersing.

Wc + badkamer wel heel erg klein. Kamer was al opgeruimd terwijl we nog niet uitgecheckt waren.

In centrum bij station. Onze kamer was pas geresrtaureerd..Comfort was goed, maar kamer (en Badkamer!) was erg klein.

Die Lage ist einzigartig, schöner Ausblick auf Kanal, viele Parkplätze, andere Städte und die Strände gut erreichbar (mit dem Auto). Lobby echt gemütlich. Kostenloser Internetzugang.

Die Türe waren zerkratzt, im Korridor gab es Maler Gegenstände, man konnte Schimmel in der Duschkabine finden (aber nicht auffällig). Relativ schwäche Deutschkenntnisse der Mitarbeiter, Es gab Kabel-TV aber einzige deutschsprächige Kanale waren WDR und ZDF
